Direct Lending is coming to SSU! The Financial Aid Office is pleased to announce that Shawnee State University is moving to the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program for 2009-10. Funding for the Federal Direct Loan Program comes from the U.S. Department of Education. What does this mean to you? If you receive federal student loans to help finance your education, your loans at SSU will now be processed through the Federal Direct Loan Program. Also, all borrowers will be required to complete new entrance counseling and sign a new Master Promissory Note through the Federal Direct Loan Program when applying for your loans for the new academic year. Your 2009-10 award notice will include instruction on how to apply for your loan. Your current loans will not be affected by this change. They will remain with the lender or servicer that you have now. When you graduate or leave school, you will have the option to consolidate all of your federal loans together. Visit the U.S. Department of Education’s Direct Loan Website for more information on the Direct Loan Program. If you have questions regarding this change or about your student loans, please contact the Financial Aid Office at 740-351-4243 or at fin_aid@shawnee.edu.
