Year Round Pell

Through the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the Pell Grant can now be awarded year round.   Therefore, a student may now request to receive Pell for the summer semester without affecting the fall and spring award.  

For example, if you are eligible to receive Pell in the amount of $5,350 it is currently applied as follows:

$2,675 for fall semester based on full time

$2,675 for spring semester based on full time

Effective for 2009/2010, if a student requests Pell for summer in addition to fall and spring semesters, it will now be applied as follows:

$2,675 for summer semester based on full time

$2,675 for fall semester based on full time

$2,675 for spring semester based on full time

In order to receive Pell for three semesters, the student must submit a request to the Financial Aid Office. Requests can be submitted beginning March 23, 2009.
