| The Shawnee State University
Center at a Glance
- Expansion and renovation project that
will more than double the current size of the University
Center, from 39,000 square feet to more than 89,000
square feet.
- The project costs $15 million.
- Expansion and renovation is funded by
tax-exempt bonds that will be partially repaid by
student fees.
- The project was requested by students
and students voted to help fund the project.
- The new University Center will
include two additions, one on the north side and one on
the south, as well as renovations in the current space.
- New and expanded space will include
student lounge and activity space, expanded dining
areas, a Jazzman’s Café, Barnes & Noble Book Store, Game
Room, and community meeting rooms.
- Several University offices and
student organization offices will be located in the new
Center. These include Admissions, Student Affairs,
Housing, Counseling, Career Services, Financial Aid,
Student Government, and other student organizations.
- The Center will feature a geothermal
energy management system for heating and cooling, which
is more eco-friendly.
- The University Center expansion and
renovation is the largest facilities investment in
Shawnee State history.
