Doc Severinsen
performs at Shawnee State University
Grammy Award-winning Doc Severinsen opened the first show of
the season at Shawnee State University’s Vern Riffe Center
for the Arts on Thursday, Sept. 17. Severinsen, making his
third appearance in Portsmouth, has made more than 30
albums, from big band to jazz to classical, and he
introduced the audience to a new genre, Mexican music,
Argentine tango, Spanish flamenco and gypsy jazz. He had
several standing ovations and encores before the evening
ended.
