Shawnee State University Assistant Professor presents
Music of WPA
As part of the “Soul of a People” project at Shawnee State
University, Michael Barnhart, assistant professor of Fine,
Digital and Performing Arts Department, presented a program
on the music of the Works Progress Administration from the
1930s at the Southern Ohio Museum on Wednesday, Sept. 16. In
the photo, Barnhart talks about some of the concerts during
the WPA project. His lecture is part of a series of public
programs being produced with the financial support of a
“Soul of a People” grant from the National Endowment for the
Humanities and the American Library Association. SSU’s
library was one of only 30 libraries across the country to
receive the grant.
