Mary Cheek is the
2008-09 recipient of the David Besco Scholarship
at Shawnee State University
The Shawnee State University Scholarship
Committee announced Mary Cheek as the 2008-09
David Besco Scholarship recipient of $4,700.
The recipient
of this scholarship must be a sophomore, junior
or senior college student, a resident of Ohio,
maintain a minimum of 3.5 overall GPA and 3.0
GPA in the major and professional education
courses. Applicants must be majoring in teacher
education or English.
Cheek,
daughter of Mark and Beth Cheek, is a 2005
graduate of Wheelersburg High School and a
returning SSU student. In high school, she was a
member of yearbook, Key Club and volleyball,
basketball and track teams. Cheek is an
integrated mathematics education major and wants
to obtain a teaching position in an area high
school after graduating from SSU. She plans to
pursue her master’s degree in mathematics
education.

this scholarship are administered through the
SSU Development Foundation. Individuals and
