Appleton Family Scholarship awarded to Thomas Payne
at Shawnee State University
The Shawnee State University Scholarship Committee has
awarded Thomas Payne the 2008-2009 Appleton Family
Scholarship of $4,000.
Applicants must be a sophomore, junior or senior
pursuing an associate or baccalaureate degree with GPA
of at least 2.5 and preference is given to a GPA of 3.0
or better. Applicants must submit two letters of
recommendation from a member of the SSU faculty and
complete the FAFSA.
Payne, son of Tony and Sandra Payne, is a 2006 graduate
of North Adams High School and a returning SSU student.
In high school, he was a member of the National Honor
Society, academic team, Beta Club and track and cross
country teams. Payne is a psychology major and hopes to
go on to graduate school to obtain his master’s degree
in the same field to become a counselor.
The funds of this scholarship are administered by the
SSU Development Foundation. Individuals or organizations
