(A series of three courses in real estate offered at Shawnee State University)

Shawnee State University is offering three complete courses that are required to receive a real estate sales associate license in the state of Ohio beginning Aug. 26.
“After taking the three courses and following the state guidelines to obtain a real estate license, students can take the state licensing exam,” said Brenda Covert, manager of Business and Industry Training.
The first class is “Real Estate Principles and Practice scheduled from 5:30 to 9:50 p.m. from Aug. 26 to Sept. 25 on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week. The class is an introduction to real estate economics and administration and includes the elementary physical, legal, location and economic characteristics of real estate, real estate markets and economic influences on real estate values.
The second class, “Real Estate Law,” will be from Sept. 29 to Oct. 29 on Mondays and Wednesdays. This class includes the law of agency as applied to real estate brokers and salesmen, law of fixtures, estates, conveying of real estate, real estate management, license laws of Ohio, zoning, cooperatives and condominiums.
The third class, “Real Estate Finance and Appraisal,” will be from Sept. 30 to Oct. 30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The class includes the fundamentals of real estate appraisal, analysis of real estate financing, including lending policies and problems in financing transactions in residential, apartment, commercial and special purpose properties.
The non-credit fee for each course is $399. If registering for all three courses, the fee is $999. Fees must be paid by Aug. 15 and a late fee of $50 applies if paid after Aug. 15.
