Students at Shawnee State University going to Morocco
Two Shawnee State University students will be attending Al
Akhawayn University in Ifrane, Morocco for Spring Semester
on an exchange program.
Don Stepp is a senior in International Relations. He
received a bachelor’s degree in history in 2004 and after
working for awhile, he decided to return to school and study
international relations. He wants to see everything he can
while he is there including traveling throughout Egypt and
Europe.
“I want to see everything I can,” Stepp said. “I may not
come back until August for my birthday.”
Jonathan Phillips is a junior who attended SSU several years
ago as a business major and dropped out. He returned three
and a half years later to study his passion – history. He is
a communications minor and he would like to write
eventually.
He has never been out of the country and he is looking
forward to learning about a different culture. Phillips has
two goals, one, to get his master’s degree in history and
the other is to study abroad. Eventually he would like to
become a writer.
“I am looking forward to going to Morocco,” Phillips said.
“I really want to see the pyramids and travel to Spain too.”
In order to graduate in Spring 2011, Phillips will continue
his studies at SSU in Summer Semester. Stepp’s brother is in
Barcelona, Spain, and the two students are planning to
travel there for spring break.
