Shawnee State Student Government Association donates to Cancer Research

Nov. 16, 2011

Shawnee State Student Government Association recently challenged the student clubs to raise money for cancer research.

As part of the incentive, $200 was presented to the club that raised the most money. Three clubs participated, Rotaract, the Recycling Club and the Gay Straight Student Alliance.

Rotaract, the newest club on campus, was the winner raising $830.74. This is the second award that Rotaract has won in its fundraising efforts.

They sold cupcakes, T-shirts, and they recycled paper and cardboard. The Rotaract members dressed up as a pink ribbon and collected donations as well. Most of it was done on campus as well as a little bit off campus. A total of $1,233.39 was raised for the research.
