Shawnee State University is celebrating Native American Heritage month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9 with music, drumming, and displays of art, crafts and artifacts in the University Center lobbies. A huge display of arrowheads, stones, leatherwork, art, jewelry and handicrafts fills the west lobby. Steve Free, left, entertained Tuesday in the east lobby with an impromptu chorus helping using shakers and a drum. Next to Free are (from left) Dawn Bissell, Luanie "Running Water" Neeley, and Ruby "Star Fire Hawk" Lowery who were with the Native American drummers. The event is free and open to the public.
