Guest lecturer to speak at Shawnee State University about
women’s roles in philanthropy
Mandilyn
Hart, executive director for the newly formed nonprofit
organization, Center for Appalachian Philanthropy, will be
guest lecturer at Shawnee State University at 6:30 p.m. on
Tuesday, Nov. 17 in Clark Memorial Library’s Flohr Lecture
Hall.
“Contrary to
what you may have thought, you don’t have to be wealthy to
be philanthropic,” Hart said. “You just have to have the
desire to give back.”
She will be
talking about the special role women play in serving the
needs of Appalachia. Several women in the community who are
making a difference in southern Ohio and the Appalachian
region also may be telling their stories.
The mission
of the Center for Appalachian Philanthropy is to grow
philanthropy in Appalachia by being the hub of connectivity
between philanthropists and the people who need their
support.
“Our purpose
is to act as a catalyst in providing networking platforms as
well as educational and support services to nonprofits,”
Hart said. “Also, we want to provide and attract resources
to help organizations forward their causes and fulfill their
missions and provide signature collaborative programs.”
