The Famous Fiddling Poet of Alaska to perform at SSU

Ken Waldman, "The Famous Fiddling Poet of Alaska," will be offering a free performance from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6 at Shawnee State University's Jazzman's Café in the University Center.

Formerly a college professor, Waldman has spent the past 25 years in Alaska and draws on this experience to create a mix of poetry and music with his signature fiddle.

According to his Web site, he has released six poetry collections, a memoir, a children's book and nine CDs. More than 400 of his poems and stories have appeared in publications, such as "Beloit Poetry Journal," "Quarterly West" and "Yankee."

In addition, he has led writing and music workshops in more than 180 schools in 31 states nationwide.
