Shawnee State University Celebrates National Denim Day

            Faculty, students and staff at Shawnee State University contributed more than $550 to benefit the SSU Mobile Health Unit and Women’s Cancer Programs of the Entertainment Industry Foundation on Lee National Denim Day, one of the largest single-day fundraisers nationwide for breast cancer.
            Since its first year in 1996, Lee National Denim Day has raised nearly $80 million for the fight against breast cancer and unites nearly one million supporters nationwide each year.
            The EIF also supports an effort by world-class scientists to develop a blood test for earlier detection of breast cancer when survival rates are the highest, known as the Breast Cancer Biomarker Discovery Project.
            The Women’s Center at Shawnee State sponsored the event.
