Scholarship awarded to three Ross County students at Shawnee
State University
The Shawnee State University Scholarship Committee awarded
three area students the 2009-10 Home for Aged Women
Scholarship of $200.
Recipient Summer Rinehart, daughter of Paul and Shari
Rinehart, of Bainbridge, Ohio, in Ross County is a 2006
graduate of Adena High School and SSU returning student. In
high school she was a member of the FFA, FCCLA, volleyball
and basketball teams. She played volleyball for SSU in 2006
and was a member of SOTA. Rinehart is pursuing a degree in
occupational therapy assistant and plans to work with
children or in a hospital setting. She plans to pursue her
master’s degree.
Recipient Sarah Ray, daughter of Steven and Rebecca Ray, of
Chillicothe, Ohio, in Ross County is a 2008 graduate of
Huntington High School and SSU returning student. In high
school she was a member of the volleyball and track teams.
She also was a member of various clubs including Student
Council, FFCLA and FFL. She is a member of the Shawnee State
Honors Program. She is pursuing a degree in medical
laboratory technician and may go back to school after paying
off student loans to get a bachelor’s degree.
Recipient Kari Gibson, daughter of Brett and Melody Gibson,
of Waverly, Ohio, in Ross County, is a 2007 graduate of
Huntington High School and a returning SSU student. She is a
member of the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, Beta Honor
Society, and the Pre-Med Club at SSU. She is pursuing a
degree in Pre-Health Science, nursing and plans to become a
nurse practitioner.
Applicants of this scholarship must have filed an
application for admission to a degree program. They must be
able to submit a high school transcript or G.E.D. score or
college transcripts if applicable. They must demonstrate
financial need and have completed the FAFSA.
The funds of this scholarship are administered by the SSU
Development Foundation. Individuals or organizations
