The Home for Aged Women Scholarship Awarded to Several
Students at Shawnee State University
The Shawnee State University Scholarship Committee awarded
several students the 2009-10 Home for Aged Women Scholarship
of $200.
Recipient Kacey Smalley, daughter of Kim Brust, of Beaver,
Ohio, in Pike County, is a 2008 graduate of Piketon High
School and Pike County JVS. In high school she was a member
of National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society,
power lifting, prom committee, and the volleyball and
softball teams. She is pursuing a degree in occupational
therapy and plans to get her master’s degree in occupational
therapy. Recipient Mandy Russell, of Piketon, Ohio, in Pike
County is a 1996 graduate of Northwest High School. In high
school she was a member of the Honors Club, student
government, mock trial team, pride team, volleyball,
basketball and track teams. She is pursuing a degree in
nursing.
Recipient Shana Myers, daughter of Darrell and Ronda Myers,
of Peebles, Ohio, in Pike County, is a 2009 graduate of
Western High School. In high school she was a member of the
National Honor Society, Quiz Bowl, Envirothon, Educational
Talent Search, FCCLA, chorus, Drama Club, Pep Club and
Spanish Club. She is pursuing a degree in nursing and plans
to work full time as an emergency department nurse.
Recipient Vanessa Mann, daughter of Valerie and Donald Mann
Jr., of Piketon, Ohio, in Pike County, is a 2006 graduate of
Waverly High School and a returning SSU student. In high
school she was a member of Student Action in Education,
People Assisting Waverly Students and Concert Choir. She is
pursuing a degree in nursing and plans to further her
education to work in a hospital on the maternity or
pediatric floor.
The funds of this scholarship are administered by the SSU
Development Foundation. Individuals or organizations
