During Alcohol Awareness Week Monday, Oct. 17 through Friday, Oct. 21, Shawnee State University will be the site of 1,700 black ribbons on campus.
The mystery of the Black Ribbon Project will be revealed during Alcohol Awareness Week.
The schedule of activities for the week is as follows:
An art show featuring SSU art students will be in the University Center throughout the week.
Matthew D'Oyly, assistant director of wellness and a residence hall director at Otterbein University created the Black Ribbon Project to raise alcohol awareness among their students. He was driven to create the project when he witnessed a student's death because of alcohol.
Edgar and Kay Shirey and Edith Rose Montavon, of Otway, donated the stakes for the black flags.
