New Master of Social Work
offered at Shawnee State University
A new Master of Social Work is being offered at
Shawnee State University through Ohio University
beginning this summer. The program specializes
in practice with families in rural environments
with concentrations in administrative or
clinical practice.
The Graduate Center at SSU is coordinating the
program. It was established in I999 to partner
with other universities to offer graduate
programs at SSU.
“I am pleased that our graduates and others in
southern Ohio will have access to Ohio
University’s Master of Social Work degree,” said
Dr. Jeff Bauer, SSU’s Graduate Center director.
“Bringing this degree program to Shawnee State’s
campus will satisfy an important need in our
region.”
All coursework is offered on the SSU campus by
the Department of Social Work at Ohio
University.
Applicants for admission to the MSW program must
fulfill the admission requirements and complete
the application forms of both Ohio University
and the Department of Social Work. The program
is fully accredited by the Council on Social
Work Education.
To learn more about the program, attend an
information session scheduled at 6 p.m. on
Wednesday, Jan. 21 in the Flohr Lecture Hall at
SSU’s Clark Memorial Library.
