Javier Sanchez is not a typical motivational speaker. In fact, he is not ashamed to say that as a motivational speaker he hates being called a motivational speaker. Sounds like a contradiction? Sanchez explains his position quite eloquently.
"Most speakers are very good at leaving their audience with a nice warm fuzzy feeling that is really cool for that moment, but I want to do more than that," he said. "I don't want to create powerful moments. I want to be a part of powerful movements."
That is just what Sanchez and the rest of the R.E.A.C.H. Communications Inc. team specializes in doing with their unique blend of comedy, music, art and storytelling.
"Our goal is to give the audience real, practical, and relevant tools that they can activate in their lives from the moment they leave the auditorium."
Since 1992, Sanchez has been an advocate for positive change and has been encouraging audiences to realize that every single person has a chance to make incredible things happen with their life starting with the choices they make from this moment on.
"Your past does not have to disqualify you from your future," says Sanchez. "I had to learn to live my message before I could share it with others."
As a young person who struggled with grades, the pressure to fit in, and a lack of vision or sense of purpose, Sanchez knows firsthand what it's like to feel like you have no choice but to live down to the low expectations of those around you.
Sanchez incorporates his expertise in the area of adding Process to your Passion with his love for music, comedy, and spoken word poetry. He is an author, performer, and filmmaker who inspires and activates "dreamers and doers" at schools, conferences, and community events across the United States and around the globe.
Sanchez will be speaking at Shawnee State University at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3 in the University Center Ballroom. He will share his message and challenge to experience life to the fullest in a healthy, safe and positive way with those in attendance. SSU's Multicultural Affairs is sponsoring the event.
