Vendors filled the Roy Rogers Esplanade on Chillicothe Street, Saturday, Aug. 24, as part of the second annual Welcome Back Street Fair organized by Shawnee State University and Main Street Portsmouth.
The event featured activities such as live music, crafts, and a farmer's market with produce and baked goods. More than 40 vendors were set up at the fair.
Many of the farmers have been participating in the Main Street Farmer's Market every Saturday, but rather than packing up their items around the routine noon closing time on Saturday, they joined the street fair booths until four in the afternoon.
Shawn E. Bear supported the welcome back activities by greeting attendees and posing for photos between vendors.
The university's plastics department also displayed creations by students while also giving away prizes such as coupons and gift cards.
Although the Welcome Back Street Fair has ended for this year, many of the vendors will still be accessible at the Roy Rogers Esplanade during the 9 a.m. to noon Farmer's Market until the season ends on Saturday, Oct. 2.
