The old smoke stack that sits atop a knoll on the west side of Shawnee State University has a new bright sign – the new Shawnee logo that lights up at night visible from both Ohio and Kentucky. The smoke stack is nearly 109 years old. The sign was revealed on Saturday, Sept. 10 with Portsmouth Mayor David Malone, left, and SSU President Rita Rice Morris.
