SSU’s International Forum hosts free concert with
Children of the World Choir
Shawnee State University’s International Forum presents a
free concert by the Children of the World Choir at 6 p.m. on
Sunday, Sept. 19, in Clark Memorial Library’s Flohr Lecture
Hall.
The children
are from developing nations and they are trying to raise
money for deep wells to provide much needed water to
communities in underdeveloped nations.
Every day
6,000 children die from water-related illnesses – diarrhea,
malaria, typhoid, cholera, worms and parasites, and trachoma
– just to name a few. With each sip of unclean water, the
number of deaths grows.
The orphaned
and disadvantaged children in the choir travel across the
United States for 10 months, inspiring people to get
involved in helping change the world and improve the lives
of children who have been devastated by civil war, famine,
poverty, unclean water and preventable diseases.
One deep bore
well costs $15,000 and can provide life-saving water for a
village of 1,000 people for 20 years.
The concert
is free and open to the public. To find out more about
Children of the World Choir, go to
