Shawnee State University’s Women’s Center Holds School Supply Drive

Shawnee State University’s Women’s Center is holding a school supply drive until Sept. 3 to help needy families in the area.
This is the first time that the Women’s Center has ever held this drive and they are hoping for good results.
“The idea came from student Christina Jones,” Interim Director Ann Linden said. “She made us aware of the parents at SSU and in the community that could use the help.”
The SSU Trio Center is working with the Women’s Center to help them get in touch with SSU students who are parents/guardians that really need the help getting school supplies. Anything left over will go to the local schools to distribute to parents in the community who need help getting school supplies.
Drop-off boxes are available at several campus locations including the Women’s Center, Clark Memorial Library, the Student Success Center, SSU Bookstore, College of Professional Studies Dean’s Office, and several department offices.
The following school supplies are needed:
                No. 2 pencils
                Glue Sticks
                Scissors
                Crayons
                Backpacks
                Erasers
                Pencil Boxes
                Notebooks
                And many more items.
For more information on the supplies needed, contact the SSU Women’s Center at (740) 351-3738.
The Women’s Center will also be hosting a Welcome Back to Campus Party on Wednesday, Sept. 1 from 4-6 p.m. on the Lawn east of Massie Hall. Free food, karaoke, and information on the center will be available.
