Math Scholarship Established at Shawnee State University
Shawnee State University Associate Professor John J.
Whitaker, Ph.D., has established a new scholarship for math
students, the Ferguson-Hamilton-Knox Math Scholarship.
The scholarship is in honor of retired Professor Orville
Ferguson and Professor Virginia Hamilton for their
dedication to students, service to the university, and
positive influence on their colleagues.
The fund also recognizes Cheryl Knox, a Shawnee State
University alumna, whose record of excellence in the
classroom and other contributions to the department serves
as a positive model for student achievement. The scholarship
will be awarded each year to a Shawnee State student who
demonstrates scholarly success in a math field and
contributes substantially to the Department of Mathematical
Sciences.
