Free food, music, dancing, face painting and Zumba are only some of the events planned for the second annual Main Street Portsmouth/Shawnee State University Street Fair.
The event from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 24th is open to the community as well as Shawnee State University students, faculty and staff. The Main Street Portsmouth Farmer's Market will kick off the Street Fair from 9:00 a.m. to noon on the Roy Rogers Esplanade.
Entertainment at the Street Fair includes a performance by Cirque d 'Art at 11:00 a.m. Local singer Jonathan Brashear will perform at noon followed by the popular Rosemount Ramblers at 1:30 p.m. Coleen Kosan, a fitness instructor at the SOMC Life Center will lead a free Zumba class at 3:00 p.m. on the esplanade.
Those who attend can register for door prizes which include certificates for Jazzman's at Shawnee State University, Barnes and Noble, Applebee's, Sonic and more. There will also informational tables, arts and crafts, jewelry and free pizza and popcorn while it lasts as well as give-aways.
During the Street Fair, Gallia Street will be blocked at Chillicothe Street and will only be accessible to Street Fair participants. Gallia Street will also be blocked in front of The Royal but motorists will still have access to the PNC Bank drive- through.
