Teacher Education Moves Offices and
Classrooms to New Building
A new Education Building, located at 945 Fourth Street in
Portsmouth, has become part of the Shawnee State University
Campus.
All education
and sign language classes will be held at this new location
that will be identified on the course schedule as “EDU,”
beginning Monday, Aug. 16. The Teacher Education faculty
offices will also be located in this building later in the
semester. Until then, faculty offices will be located in
Massie 227 office suite.
“This new
academic building will help us accommodate our continued
growth,” President Rita Rice Morris said. “This fall, we
will see another record year for enrollment. Our need for
more classroom space is growing. The new Education Building
will help us meet our immediate needs.”
More than
4,500 students are enrolled for this fall semester and a
growing number of these students have chosen Teacher
Education as their field of study.
On Monday, as
classes begin, students need to look for directional signs
leading them to the new location.
“We are
excited about this academic building as it is a sign of our
continuing growth at Shawnee State University,” said Paul
Madden, chair, Department of Teacher Education.
