July 21, 2011

The Shawnee State University Alumni Association is having a special event in August – Bears, Baseball and BBQ – when alumni and their invited guests can enjoy a game on Thirsty Thursday, Aug. 4 where the Florence Freedom hosts the Lake Erie Crushers in Florence, Ky., for only $12.

The price includes round-trip bus fare from the SSU campus, a barbeque buffet, soft drinks and a commemorative T-shirt. SSU Alumni will be on the Gold Patio located behind home plate and dollar drafts will be available all evening. Live music and entertainment will follow the game and children will have free access to the Kids Zone and inflatables. "Graduating from the university is always an exciting time for new grads and sometimes the benefits of being an alumni get lost in the excitement of the day," said Denise Gregory, coordinator of Alumni and Retirement Affairs. "Everyone who graduates is automatically a member of the SSU Alumni Association and we have a number of benefits."

  • Membership fee discount at the SSU Recreation Center;
  • Daily rate discount at the Dr. Miller and Genevieve Toombs Children's Learning Center at SSU;
