Cindy Ferguson, senior instructor in the Teacher Education Department at Shawnee State University was one of six visiting faculty invited to present at the National Head Start Management Academy Credential Program in San Antonio, Texas.
The 2011 conference, "Getting Results" marked the 16th year of leadership training where 108 Head Start managers and directors nationwide received training in everything from leadership effectiveness and ethics to Ferguson's module "3DM: Data-Driven Decision-Making."
As part of the college credit and credentialing program, candidates had to submit "Knowledge Abstracts" daily culminating in a capstone proposal identifying a system-wide change for program implementation in their specific program and state.
Initially, the Academy was under the direction of Dr. Mary Tom Riley of Texas Tech University and today the Academy is officially housed in the Professional Development Department of the National Head Start Association (NHSA) in Washington, DC.
