The Shawnee State University Board of Trustees said goodbye to Jim Warren during its May meeting in the Homer and Janet Selby Board Room in the Clark Memorial Library. Warren is leaving the SSU Board of Trustees after serving a nine-year term.
            “Jim has been a valued member of the SSU Board of Trustees,” Dr. Rita Rice Morris, president, said. “On behalf of our students and our community, I thank him for his support and commitment to advancing higher education in our region.”
            During the meeting, the Board of Trustees also acknowledged the retirement of seven faculty members this year, including Dr. Frank Byrne, Larry Essman, Dr. Mary Dillard, Jerry Ruby, Eugene Valentine, Barbara Kunkle and Orville Ferguson.
            “Combined, these faculty members served 169 years at Shawnee State University,” Morris said. “These people helped build Shawnee State University into the special place that it is and are now moving on to new things in their lives. Our campus thanks them for their contributions to Shawnee State, higher education, and to our community.”
            The Board also approved a general fund budget and auxiliary and agency budget for fiscal year 2011. SSU’s fiscal year begins July 1, 2010.
