Relay for Life Team at Shawnee State University Raises Money for Cancer Research

The Relay for Life is an annual overnight fundraising event at the Scioto County Fairgrounds to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of the American Cancer Society.
At Shawnee State University, a team of volunteers are raising money by having raffles, selling luminaries and collecting items for a rummage sale. At the Relay, each team will try to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.
Team members have donated a huge variety of products for a “Relaxation Basket” raffle. The basket is filled to the brim with bubble bath, autographed books, facial mask, bath salts, pedicure pouch, shower gels, lotions, body butters, a 30-minute massage certificate, candles, Gevalia coffee, oil diffusers, a Cindy Crawford blanket and memory foam neck pillow, among other things.
The luminaries will be placed at the Relay for Life event with the name of a loved one who has been affected by cancer.
The rummage sale will be on Saturday, June 12, in the parking lot of the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts. It will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature household items, pictures, DVD’s, bedding, etc. All proceeds from the sales and raffle will go to the Scioto County Relay for Life to benefit the American Cancer Society.
If anyone has items to donate or would like to purchase raffle tickets or luminaries, contact Mistie Spicer at (740) 351-3635.
