Show in Europe films at Shawnee State University
Jaime Vendera breaks glass with his voice for “Galileo
History” show in Europe.
Jaime Vendera,
world-renowned voice strengthening coach and rock performer
of Franklin Furnace, was recently interviewed and filmed for
a popular TV show “Galileo History” on stage at Shawnee
State University’s Vern Riffe Center for the Arts. The show
airs every day at 7 p.m. throughout Germany, Austria,
Switzerland and parts of Italy. Maximus Film taped the
interview with Vendera on the main stage of the theater
The main
theatre in the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts was known as
one of the greatest concert halls in the country when it
opened in 1996. It still is, with its perfect acoustics
engineered by celebrated theater designer and Yale Professor
Emeritus George Izenour.
The
1,139-seat theater is designed to make it a perfect venue
for all types of instrumental and choral concerts and plays
– and a perfect setting for the filming of Vendera’s special
gift of breaking glass with his voice.
“It is no
secret that sound waves have the ability to break glass by
producing a perfect resonance that causes the glass to
shatter,” says Larry Lonney, assistant professor in Natural
Sciences at SSU. “What is so remarkable about Jaime is that
he is able to produce precisely the perfect sound pattern to
break the glass with only his voice. It will be fascinating
to see this event captured in super slow motion.”
Vendera,
former voice student of Shirley Crothers-Marley, has
traveled the world with his unique ability and recently he
was interviewed and broke glass with his voice on the “Dr.
Oz” television show.
He is the
first documented singer in world history to shatter a
wineglass with his voice alone. He has been on “Good Morning
America,” The Discovery Channel show and “MythBusters,”
among others, in Japan and Europe.
“I have been
filmed many times by TV stations throughout the world,”
Vendera said. “A Japanese film crew was at SSU last year
filming my glass breaking and it has become one of their
most popular TV segments.”
Vendera has
written several books including “Raise Your Voice,” “The
Ultimate Breathing Workout,” The Ultimate Vocal Workout
Diary” and “Strengthening Your Singing Voice,” among others.
Vendera
coaches vocal students from around the world including lead
singers with many popular rock groups and recording artists,
many of whom travel to southern Ohio just to take a lesson
from him.
