SSU alumna has first book published

Apr. 28, 2011

Jennifer Phillips Reed, a 2005 graduate of Shawnee State University, has just completed her first book, "Cincinnati Day Trips" published by Schiffer Books and spoke about her book and getting published at SSU on Thursday, April 14. The book is compiled from trips that Reed has taken from her home base in Cincinnati.

"There is a lot to see and explore within a couple of hours from Cincinnati," Reed said. "Whether you want a short outing or an all-day excursion, history or mystery -- this book will guide you there."

The book has 97 color images of places to visit on day trips from Cincinnati, including a castle, ancient petroglyphs, a town with a canine mayor and much more.

Reed was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. She attended Shawnee State University, where she earned her B.A. in English and Northern Kentucky University, where she earned her M.A. in Communication. She works in marketing and loves to explore historic sites, parks, roadside attractions and oddities in her spare time.

When she's home, she enjoys scrapbooking, reading, writing and gardening. Reed currently resides in Cincinnati, where she lives with her husband and two cats.
