Shawnee State University's 17th Annual Spring Bear Run saw 567 participants in the biannual 5K race. Chris Reis won the event in a time of 14.42 and Shawnee State runner Brittney LiPira, of Thornville, Ohio, won the women's race in 18:28.
LiPira along with teammate Jeremy Anderson, of Beverly, Ohio, won the Larry Mangus Award for the top Shawnee State student finishers.
In the faculty/staff category, men's first place was Gary Covert and women's first place staff was Leigh Gerlach from the Office of Communications. Corey Culbertson was men's alumni first place winner and Emily Payne was women's alumni first place winner.
