Poems for Peace, an open poetry reading to honor National Poetry Month and to promote nonviolence, will be held in Shawnee State University's Flohr Lecture Hall on Tuesday, April 16 at 7 p.m.
The public is invited to come and read poems (original or by published poets) that convey the themes of peace, love, friendship, reverence for live, kindness or other related topics. The goal of the event is to use human unity and creative expression to inspire compassion, respect and nonviolence in an increasingly violent society.
Come and read poems or just listen. Those in attendance will also have the chance to make a money donation to help benefit the Southern Ohio Domestic Violence Shelter. Free refreshments will be served.
The event is sponsored by the SSU English department and Women's Center. For more information, contact Neil Carpathios at email@example.com or (740) 351-3478 or Ann Linden at firstname.lastname@example.org or (740) 351-3738.
