Shawnee State University will be hosting its annual Evening of Honors in conjunction with the seventh annual Celebration of Scholarship on Friday, April 8 with a social hour at 5:15 p.m. and the program beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the Sodexo Ballroom at the University Center.
Individual departments and organizations will present awards to students, staff and faculty. The SSU Alumni Association will give the Alumnus of Tomorrow Award to a graduating student who has displayed commitment to his or her individual endeavors — academic, social and personal — and who shows great promise toward his or her future endeavors.
"Evening of Honors is a time when students, faculty, staff and administrators come together to celebrate the achievements of the university community," said Douglas Kemerer, Resident Advisor, vice president of the Student Government Association and organizer for the Evening of Honors.
Students will nominate an administrator, staff or faculty member for the Excellence in Service Award and the Award for Service Learning for notable contributions to the university.
The Student Government Association is giving two Congress Members of the Year awards and the prestigious Bear Hug Award at the conclusion of the evening. Students nominate faculty, staff or an administrator for the prestigious award.
