Shawnee State University Bears Women’s Basketball Team returns home NAIA National Runner-up Champions

            Shawnee State University Women’s Basketball Team made it to the final National Association of Intercollegiate championship game against Northwestern who won the championship by a score of 85-66 in the NAIA Division II game.
            This is the first time that the SSU team has received the NAIA National Runner-up title. The team met a Welcome Back Celebration at Shawnee State’s University Center on Thursday, March 18.
            SSU’s Mallory Albers was named First Team All-tournament and received the tournament’s Hustle Award and Alison Meyer was named Second Team All-Tournament.
            Five Bears were named NAIA Scholar Athletes, seniors Mallory Albers, Alison Meyer, Whitney Williams and juniors Jill Cropper and Keilee Guthrie who earned the honor with a 3.5 or above grade point average. Shawnee State completed the 2009-10 season with a 29-7 record.
