Professor talks about extraordinary life of author and leading woman of the Harlem Renaissance
As part of Women’s History Month at Shawnee State
University, Professor Barbara Kunkle presented a lecture,
“Zora! The Extraordinary Life of Zora Neale Hurston,” on
Wednesday, March 3 in the University Center. Kunkle’s
presentation included excerpts from a PBS documentary about
Hurston. Hurston was the author of “Their Eyes Were Watching
God,” among other works. She contributed to the WPA Guide to
Florida and recorded songs and stories along Florida’s Gulf
Coast. She was a leading figure of the Harlem Renaissance of
the 1920s and 30s. |
