FAFSA Deadline Causes Confusion for Shawnee State University Students

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) deadline has been causing a lot of student confusion. Monday, Feb. 15 will be the deadline for students who want to be considered for “financially need-based scholarships.”
“On February 15 students will need to apply for these scholarships, have transcripts submitted to admissions and have their FAFSA submitted,” Barb Bradbury, director of Financial Aid said.
All returning SSU students, who are applying for financial aid, are encouraged to submit their application by March or April because some forms of financial aid are awarded first come/first served.
“The sooner students apply for FAFSA the sooner they’ll be able to know their aid award and if their award is large enough, to make sure they have everything in line to purchase books before they need them,” Bradbury said.
