Feb. 8, 2011

Shawnee State University in cooperation with OSU South Centers and Ohio University- Chillicothe will be sponsoring a seminar presented by Personnel Development Strategies called "Managing Difficult Employees and…Difficult Personnel Situations."

This seminar will take place on Monday, March 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Endeavor Center in Piketon, Ohio.

The seminar outcomes and objectives include:

  • Learn the three main categories into which difficult employees fall;
  • Review all of the costs a business has to burden when difficult employees have to be managed;
  • Become familiar with the key steps of dealing with a difficult employee or personnel situation; and,
  • Present five common, difficult situations supervisors face in today's workplace.

Participant teams will identify a troublesome situation and develop a strategy for coping with that challenge. Then, the team will prepare a role-play discussion that supports their strategy.

Each team will present the strategy and role-play a discussion they developed for their assigned personnel situation. At the end of the seminar, each participant will identify at least three new ideas they can implement in their department.

The cost of the seminar is $125. This fee includes continental breakfast and lunch. Participants must register before Feb. 25. For more information or to register, contact SSU University Outreach at (740) 351-3274 or toll free at (866) 672-8778.
