Recycling volunteers offer pick-up service at student apartments

Feb. 1, 2011

Shawnee State University's Center for Community Service has brought back door-to-door recycling pick up in an effort to increase recycling at the university.

Every Wednesday, volunteers are going to the student apartments to pick up recyclables from the bins provided. Residents need to put all their recycling into the bins outside the front door by noon on Wednesdays.

Aluminum cans, brown paper bags, cereal boxes and other types of paper board, computer paper, magazines, catalogs, mail, newspapers, plastic bottles, telephone books and soup, food and aerosol cans will be accepted.

I the apartment does not have a recycling bin, notify the resident advisor and one will be delivered. Plastic bags or boxes can be used if the recycling bin is missing.

The top five apartments that have a perfect recycling record will have a pizza delivered.
