SSU honors three alumni at Hall of Fame brunch
Shawnee State University presented One Home Team Award and
two Hall of Fame inductions at a brunch on Saturday, Jan. 23
Homecoming Weekend in the University Center Sodexo Ballroom
East.
SSU Men’s
Basketball Coach and Athletic Center Director Jeff Hamilton
presented alumnus Eugene Collins the Ralph Kavanaugh Home
Team Award. Collins played basketball from 1984 to 1986 and
was assistant head coach from 1990 to 2007.
Hamilton also
talked about Hall of Fame inductee Tiffany Clayton who was
unable to attend the brunch.
Clayton, who
played basketball from 1991 to 1995, holds five records at
SSU, including a three-point field goal made in a game with
eight, three-point field goal attempts in a game with a 14
three-point career goal percentage at 39.7 percent, a
three-point season field goal percentage at 46 percent and
566 career assists.
She ranks 19
on the all-time scoring record with 1,050 points. Clayton
earned All MOC recognition in 1995.
Hall of Fame
inductee John Williams was a cross country champion at SSU
from 2000 to 2003. He is a two-time All-American Mideast
Conference runner and two-time NAIA National Qualifier.
During his time a SSU, he held the fastest time of any
runner (25:45) and he is among the top five runners ever at
Shawnee State and 13th on the all-time fastest time list. He
was a five-time meet medalist during his career at SSU.
Each year
since 2000, inductees are chosen for the SSU Hall of Fame
during Homecoming Weekend.
