Shawnee State University Theatre Department to Hold Auditions

Jan. 27, 2011

Shawnee State University will be holding auditions at 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 31 at the Kahl Studio Theater in the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts for Paul Zindel's madcap, bizarre comedy, "The Secret Affairs of Mildred Wild."

Mildred Wild and her husband run a candy store in Greenwich Village. The store is cluttered with her 40-year collection of movie magazines. She escapes from reality into a dream world with all of the movies. In this dream world whenever there is a crisis, she creates a fantasy scene from one of the movies.

A two-minute memorized contemporary monologue from existing theatre literature is required for anyone who is auditioning.

Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. on April 20, 21, 22 on the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts Main Stage Theater.

Four males and five females are needed for the play. Sign up for an audition time on the Kahl Studio Theater door.
