MEDIA ADVISORY Contact: To news directors, editors, reporters, and photographers: Who: Shawnee State University Children’s Learning Center (CLC) preschool students What/Why: Dr. Gail Counts, veterinarian at Shawnee Animal Clinic, Portsmouth, and Wendy Bauer, CLC preschool parent, will award certificates to CLC students for their participation in the Animal Awareness Program, an educational venture making the students aware of stray animals in Scioto County. Each CLC classroom will present a monetary donation to Sierra’s Haven for New and Used Pets, a no-kill animal shelter. The students collected change in banks to give to the shelter. In addition, the students will present Sierra’s Haven with a statue with an inscription from the center.
