MEDIA ADVISORY Contact: Ohio Board of Regents to hold March meeting at SSU tomorrow The Ohio Board of Regents (OBR) will hold its March 2004 meeting at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, March 11 (tomorrow), in the Micklethwaite Banquet Hall in the University Center on the Shawnee State University (SSU) campus in Portsmouth. SSU President Rita Rice Morris; Eric Marit, student member of the SSU Board of Trustees; and Ellen (E.B.) Newberry, president of the SSU Student Government Association will present "Shawnee State University: An Excellent Choice Among Ohio's Public Universities" during the meeting. A focal point of the March meeting will be a briefing on the status of the higher education budget following announcements from the Governor's office earlier this week. Paul Madden, director of pre-professional services in the Department of Teacher Education at SSU, will address the Access Committee of the OBR about the transfer and articulation of courses for students who wish to transfer teacher education and other GEP and content area courses from one institution to another within our region and, ultimately, across the state of Ohio. He will be specifically addressing the work that the Southeastern Ohio Articulation Partnership has accomplished and continues to perform here in southeastern Ohio, a region that includes institutions as far west as Southern State Community College and as far east as Belmont and Muskingum. Media and the public are encouraged to attend the board meeting, as well as the 9 a.m.-noon committee meetings, all held in the University Center's Micklethwaite Banquet Hall (2nd Floor). The Ohio Board of Regents is the coordinating body for higher education in the state. Created in 1963 by the General Assembly, the 11-member public board has a direct, non-governing relationship with all of Ohio's colleges and universities. ### |
