at SSU Celebrate Bicentennial In celebration of the Ohio Bicentennial, Shawnee State University (SSU) has co-hosted a yearlong series of lectures with the Portsmouth Public Library on Ohio history entitled, “The River Runs Through It.” Next in the series will be “Branch Rickey and Woody Hayes: A Portrait of Two Ohio Sports Legends,” presented by Jerry Holt, Ph.D., in the Flohr Lecture Hall, Sept. 18, at 7 p.m. On Sept. 30 at 7 p.m., Beverly Gray, coordinator of the Ohio Underground Railroad Association’s southern region, will present “The Underground Railroad in Southern Ohio,” in the Flohr Lecture Hall. Both lectures will also be presented at the Portsmouth Public Library at 2 p.m. on the same days. For more information, call (740) 351-3267. # # # |
