LARGEST CAREER FAIR IN AREA TO BE HELD AT SHAWNEE STATE UNIVERSITY

On Friday, December 2, 2005 more than 450 high school juniors from throughout Scioto County will attend the fourth annual career fair at the Shawnee State University (SSU) campus.

Sponsored by the Ohio Appalachian Center for Higher Education (OACHE) “BEAR CUBS” Program and the Shawnee State University Development Foundation, the career fair will give students the opportunity to investigate 30 different careers, including the arts, health sciences, criminal justice, military service and even video game design, by talking with professionals who will underscore the importance of attending college.

The mission of OACHE is to increase college attendance among students from Ohio Appalachia.

Schedule:

9:45-10:45 a.m., main theater, Vern Riffe Center for the Arts: Welcomes from Dr. Michael Field, SSU provost and vice president of academic affairs, and Dr. Brenda Hass, executive director of OACHE.

10:25-11:15 a.m., sites throughout campus: Twenty-minute sessions with professionals.

11:15 a.m.-12:25 p.m., main gym, James A. Rhodes Athletic Center: Lunch and review of career displays.

12:25-1:15 p.m. sites throughout campus: Twenty-minute sessions with professionals.
