WHAT:
Southeastern Ohio Articulation Partnership for teacher
education
signing ceremony
WHEN:
Monday, October 27, 2003, 1:15 p.m.
WHERE:
Selby Grand Lobby, Vern Riffe Center for the Arts on
the
campus of Shawnee State University in Portsmouth
WHY:
The members of the Southeastern Ohio Articulation
Partnership for
teacher education, by mutual agreement, have determined that degree
and/or
licensure requirements for professional teacher preparation at a
partner
institution may be satisfied by the completion of equivalent
coursework
at any of the other partner institutions. Course equivalencies have
been
developed by faculty members from each institution. Each
college/university
is in the process of appointing a campus coordinator who will serve
as the
point of contact for students wishing to transfer using this
agreement.
HOW:
As part of this agreement, students are encouraged to
complete the
identified block of courses at one institution in order to receive
credit for the
corresponding courses at the transfer institution. In the event that
a student
has not completed the entire block, a course-by-course review will
be
conducted by the campus coordinator to determine eligibility of
professional
education courses for transfer. The campus coordinator’s review
will be
limited primarily to the professional education courses and is
intended to
supplement the normal institutional process for the review of
transfer credit.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This agreement is a partnership
between the eight institutions listed above-a pathway for regional
residents
who can begin working on a teacher education baccalaureate degree at
a community or technical college and finish the degree at a
four-year university. This agreement will make the transition much
easier for students and institutions.
