PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT Contact: Religion, the River,
and the State Celebrated at SSU Judith Metz, S.C., Ph.D., archivist and historian for the Roman Catholic group Sisters of Charity, will present “Religion in the Ohio River Valley,” as part of the Shawnee State University (SSU) Clark Memorial Library and Portsmouth Public Library’s “The River Runs Through It: A Bicentennial Celebration of Ohio River Valley History,” at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, in the Flohr Lecture Hall in the Clark Memorial Library at SSU. Metz, who earned degrees from the College of Mount St. Joseph, teaches classes on American religious history at the same institution, and is also an authority on women’s religious orders and the religious history of Cincinnati.
