SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT Contact: (Article by B.J. Parsons--communications specialist, SSU Office of Communications) Planetarium to Host Comet Show “Watching Comets” will be presented in Shawnee State University’s (SSU) Clark Planetarium on two nights, Wednesday, April 21 and May 5, at 8 p.m. Comets, which are small, rocky, ice formations that orbit around the sun, spew off gasses and particles as they are heated by the sun’s rays, causing a tail that can be viewed from great distances. Two comets, the first visible to the naked eye since the mid-to-late 1990’s, will pass by Earth in April and May. Tickets to “Watching Comets” are $3 ($2 for kids 12 and under) and are available at the Planetarium door the night of the show. Seating is limited to 66, so the show will be shown again on May 5 and on later dates, if the interest remains. For more information, call (740) 351-3145. # # # |
