Help Using the
Shawnee State Library Catalog |
The Shawnee State Library
Catalog
contains cataloging records for the materials—more than 167,740 books, videos, CDs,
government documents, etc.—owned by Clark Memorial Library.
Periodical
Articles?
You can search for
cataloged materials by AUTHOR,
TITLE, Library of Congress SUBJECT
heading, MEDICAL SUBJECT
(MESH), by describing what you need in your own WORDS,
etc. Let’s say that
you want to look for Frankenstein.
To begin a title
search, at the Clark library Catalog menu, click on TITLE.
At
the entry screen, the directions and examples will help you enter
appropriate search terms. If the system cannot match your
search terms, it will suggest alternatives. Type in the title,
Frankenstein

If
only one cataloging record exists for the item, the catalog will
display that record.
If the catalog contains several records for that
title, the system will display a browse screen. Click
on a title to see the
cataloging record.

The Cataloging
Record
|
|
The cataloging record will describe an item owned by the
Shawnee State University Library, provide the location and call
number, and indicate the circulation status. If the item is AVAILABLE,
it should be on the shelf, ready for you to use or check out.

If the item is DUE--checked out-- you can request it from another OhioLINK member library.
Click on the OhioLINK
Central button at the top or bottom of the cataloging record.
Click on
Request
this Item.

To indicate your institutional
affiliation, pop-up the menu and highlight Shawnee State U and then click on the
button "Submit above information."

To complete your request, enter Your Name
and your university ID number and click "Submit."

You will receive an immediate
verification that your request has been received and posted to
the system.

If you get any
message other than "Item requested from [name of
institution], you must establish or update your
library account
to use this feature.
The
item will be delivered to the Clark Memorial Library Circulation
Counter within three working days.
You may check it out from here at your convenience.
When you are finished with the item, return it to the Clark
Circulation Counter.
We will send it back to the institution that lent it.
There is no cost to you to use this service.

Periodical
articles? If you are looking for articles from a specific periodical that we subscribe to, a title search will allow you to check
our local holdings.
If we provide
electronic full text access to that periodical,
you can connect to the
publication from the cataloging record. However, if you
are looking for
articles on a particular topic, we recommend choosing a
Research
Database instead. Please ask for assistance
if you need help locating articles. For
additional assistance, Ask-a-Librarian.
